Except
from knowing your actual skin type (oily, dry, combo,
damaged, ect), true tonal coloring is the most important
factor when it comes to using cosmetics effectively
and hen using them to make the most of every feature
and help concealing the worst. Once you acquire this
knowledge, the rest is a walk in the park!
To
achieve a perfect canvas setting, one must choose
a foundation shade that closely resembles or matches
exactly their own natural coloring. Nobody's
skin is identical, but we do all have one thing in
common. That one thing is that we all fall into is
distinct groups of color tones. The color groups we
will touch on into some detail are cool tones and
warm tones. We will also briefly cover peach/orange
tones, light olive neutrals and complete neutrals. |
| Foundation
Shades - When choosing a foundation shade, it is best to check
the chosen foundation color by being in natural light (outside)
and rubbing a small amount onto a patch of clean skin along
your jaw line. Testing foundation along the jaw line and in
natural lighting will ensure that your shade choice of foundation
is best matched. You may also want to let the foundation color
settle for a few minutes as some colors may noticeably change
color, particularly those with really oily skin. Please be sure
to take advantage of our sampling. Using samples is a cheaper,
more fun way to find out what works for you. |
- Cool
Tones - obvious red or pinkish tones dominating your features
without much yellow, pale pink complexion with redness showing
specially on the areas of the cheeks, deep pink or red complexion
again with redness on cheeks or peach complexions that have
red or pink as the dominant color tone. Your veins could be
'bluish' colored. Another good clue as to whether you’re warm
or cool is by what type jewelry (gold or silver) looks best
on you. If silver looks best on you color wise, then you probably
have a cooler undertone. Those with cool tones may possibly
find a foundation that helps them achieve a near perfect complexion
by choosing one of these foundation tones.

- Warm
Tones - obvious
yellow tones dominating your features without much red or
pink, pale yellow based complexion with no hint of redness
or pink, deep yellow complexions, again with no hint of redness
or pink, peach/orange shades that have yellow or gold as the
dominant color tone and your veins could be greenish in color.
Another good clue as to whether you’re warm or cool is by
what type jewelry (gold or silver) looks best on you. If gold
looks best on you color wise, then you probably have a warmer
undertone. Those with warm tones may possibly find a foundation
that helps them achieve a near perfect complexion by choosing
one of these foundation tones.

- Neutral
Tones - neutral coloring
or certain types of 'olive toned' folks fair a lot better
when they wear a neutralized colored toned foundation. These
neutralized colors can range anywhere between 'grayish' or
'olive (greenish/yellow)' in tone. Another
good clue as to whether you are indeed a neutral tone is by
taking a look at the jewelry you wear. Neutral tones can wear
both gold and silver, but look even better in brass based
and copper based jewelry. Those with light olive and complete
neutral tones may possibly find a foundation that helps them
achieve a near perfect complexion by choosing one of these
foundation tones.

Yellow Toned Foundations
- Peach
Tones - A pale , orange toned
coloring with a scattering of golden freckles, medium toned
orange coloring with slight redness on the checks, deeper
toned golden shade with plenty of freckles or dark skin with
deep golden undertones. Peach or orange undertones can also
wear some cooler toned color as well as warm toned colors.
Peach undertones can usually pull off any color metal jewelry.
Those with peach or slight orange tones may possibly find
a foundation that helps them achieve a near perfect complexion
by choosing one of these foundation tones.
